چکیده فارسی مقاله Objective: The present study was planned to investigate effectiveness of life skills training on the social skills of students with intellectual disabilities. Methods: In this semi-experimental study with pretest and posttest design by control group, the participant were randomly assigned in experimental and control group with equal numbers. Life skills training were applied to experimental group (n=20) in 9 sessions, while control group were in neutral state. The teacher completed the Social Skills Rating Scale or SSRS (Teacher Form) for the subjects at pretest and posttest. Multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) was used for analyzing the data by using SPSS software (version 16, SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL). Results: The results of MANCOVA revealed a significant difference between total social skills and subscales of the test (Cooperation, assertiveness and self-control) in the experimental group, while in the control group there was not a significant change. It is important that educators and parents reinforce learning of social skills through direct and indirect life skills training procedure (P< 0.005). Conclusion: The present study supports the effectiveness of life skills training on the social skills of high school students with intellectual disabilities. Our findings showed life skills training had significant and positive effect on the cooperation, assertion and self-control skills.
