Evaluation of Self-efficacy on Glycosylated Hemoglobin in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes |

Background: Efficacy is the ability of a person to perform specific activities successfully. One of the most important aspects in the care of patients with diabetes is considering oneself as most important. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of self-efficacy in improving glycosylated hemoglobin in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: A quasi-experimental study involving 70 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus was carried out in Vasei hospital, Sabzevar. Self-efficacy of the patients in the management of type 2 diabetes was assessed using questionnaires and levels of glycosylated hemoglobin were measured at baseline and after the intervention. Results: Analysis of covariance showed that after removing the covariate, self-efficacy was associated with reduced levels of glycosylated hemoglobin. Conclusion: It can be concluded that increasing self-efficacy has caused a reduction in the amount of glycosylated hemoglobin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. |
