Background The acquisition of professional qualifications by nurses to provide care in critical situations is very important. This study aimed to determine The Effect of confrontation and Disaster Education on the Improvement of Nurses' Professional Competence in Response to the Crisis among nurses. Materials and Method: This study was a Semi-experimental study that Pretest-posttest plan was used. All nurses working at Shahid Chamran Hospital in Saveh in the first 6 months of 2018 were our statistical population. 80 nurses were selected by Available sampling method and then randomly divided into two groups by using a method of permuted block randomization. For the intervention group, the classes were delivered by lectures and practical workshops for 16 hours in 4 days. The participants filled the Nursing competence questionnaire before and one month after the intervention. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSSv20 software and by chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, independent t-test and paired sample t-test. Results: The results of this study showed that the level of nurses' professional competence improvement in relation to the ability of post-intervention scene management was as high as 2.72, the amount of teamwork skill in the post-intervention crisis was as high as 1.81 score, specific abilities After intervention, a score of 2.08, the rate of moral and legal performance after the intervention was 1.6 and the level of specialized skills after the intervention was as high as 2.06 in the intervention group compared with the control group. There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of distribution of the variables. The mean of professional competency of nurses before intervention in intervention and control groups was 163.5 ± 28.6 and 155.73 ± 34.00, respectively. After intervention, they were (185.13 ± 28.8) and (158.48 ± 33.3) and this difference was significant in the intervention group (p < 0.001) Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that nurses' competence to provide care in critical situations is not in a desirable level, and assessing the competence of nurses and identifying the gaps in their knowledge and skills prior to attending critical situations is important and Accident and disaster education can dramatically increase nurses' professional competence in responding to the crisis. Therefore, we can suggest the method used in this study as an applicable, simple, low cost and effective method in this regard. |
