Abstract Objective:The present study was conducted with the purpose of predictng internet addiction based on general self-efficacy, difficulty in emotion regulation and resiliency. Methods: The research method was descriptive correlational. The statistical population included all medical students of Shahid Beheshti University of medical sciences. The research sample consisted of 96 medical students who were selected by available sampling method in 1397. Data collection was done by General Sherer's self-efficacy questionnaire, Gramat's and Roemer's emotion regulation difficulty (2001), Conver and Davison's Resilience Questionnaire (2003) and Young's Internet Addiction (1999) questionnaire. Results:To analyze the data, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression were used. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between Internet addiction and general self-efficacy, difficulty in emotion regulation and resiliency (P < 0.05). Also, general self-efficacy, the difficulty in emotion regulation and resilience, are able to predict Internet addiction in medical students. Conclusion:According to the findings, it can be concluded that in order to prevent and reduce the harm of addiction in students at the time of stress and psychological pressures, they should be taughtto strengthening the resiliency, increasing the self-efficacy and strengthening the skill of emotion regulation. |
