Investigating the Components of Safety Culture among Employees Working in the Operational Areas of South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company |

Introduction: Safety plays a significant role in the oil and gas industry, where many accident-causing factors exist in its product cycle. This study aims to evaluate the level of safety culture in the operational areas of South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company (SZOGPC). Method: In this descriptive-analytical study, a standardized safety culture questionnaire containing 50 questions related to 5 areas of education, workplace, safety priority, information exchange, and management commitment was used. All employees in the company's operational areas were selected as a sample, and the questionnaire was distributed among them. Five-point Likert scales were used to record answers. After collecting the data, their coding was done in SPSS software version 23. Findings: The mean safety culture score in Parsian operational area is higher than in other studied operational areas. Furthermore, the lowest level of safety culture is related to the operational area of Sarkhun and South Gashu. The mean safety culture component of all operational areas was 3.06±0.248 out of 5, which indicates the mean safety culture among the employees of operational areas. Among the components, safety priority has the highest score, and the workplace has the lowest score. Conclusion: The amount of safety culture in the SZOGPC is moderate, and the managers of this company should move towards increasing this practical safety component. Employees' strong positive safety culture will facilitate the organization's movement to achieve higher safety standards. |
