عنوان انگلیسی Aplasia Cutis Congenital in a Newborn of Diabetic Mother Without a Familial Pattern, Recognizing and Responding to Medical and Nursing Care: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Aplasia cutis congenita (ACC) is a rare condition regarded as congenital absence of epidermis, dermis and, in some cases, subcutaneous tissues in the newborn. The etiology is with an unclear pathogenic mechanism, although the condition has been described to occur as a result of the disrupted development or degeneration of skin in utero. ACC may be observed with fetus papyraceus (FP). We report a case of 8 h old newborn female with bilateral symmetrically distributed, stellate type of truncal ACC at birth. She was the survivor twin as the other fetus died at 13w+3D of gestation. This describes ACC with fetus papyraceus. Physical examination showed otherwise normal and managed and there was no other congenital abnormality. Newborn was treated with antibacterial ointment and antibiotic, and lesions resolved spontaneously within 5 day, leaving scars. This report explained a newborn with type V cutis aplasia congentia in whom the detection was approved based on revision of antenatal history and clinical features. The outcome of the protocol revealed that the use of the topical and systemic antibiotic, and washing with normal saline can be an effective treatment for healing of ACC lesions. Follow-up after 3 month indicated that the skin lesion completely healed, leaving a very small atrophic scar, and no further management of the lesion was required. This study discusses our case and review the literature.
