The link Between Bullying Behaviors and Self – Esteem among Primary School Students in Iraq |

ABSTRACT Objectives: To determine the relationship between demographic data and self -esteem level among age school students. Methods: A descriptive study design (correlational design), with a probability random sample that consisted of (240) participants. The study instrument used were Self-Esteem Index (ISE) and bully scale. The statistical method applied were (percentage test, normal distribution test, standard deviation (SD), mean test, t-test and Spearman test) by used (SPSS-ver. 26). Results: The study results showed demographic characteristics analysis of the sample concerned, the large number of the sample that was with age was (10-11) years old within age groups and male. Also the study results depict the overall evaluation responses for study subject about bulling victims and self-esteem are the most students suffer from strong bulling (65.5%) and majority of students have low self-esteem (81.2%). However, show that there is a significance relationship between overall evaluation responses for bulling victims and self-esteem domains at p value less than 0.05. Discussion: The present study concludes most of student’s responses for bulling victims have strong bulling, the study highlights the potential effect of bulling on student’s self-esteem and raises potential problems. The findings suggest that increasing students’ self-esteem may be an effective strategy to enhance student’s outcomes. The study recommended the following the need for additional studies on the nature of this event that lead to definition the etiology of bulling victims. Should be the family dynamics and other situations of vulnerability, as well as qualitative strategies to early detection and investigate for bulling behaviors. |
