Background: Addiction is a kind of behavioral state in which a person has a weakness in controlling her/his will and desires due to mental instabilities or consumption of certain chemicals, and for this reason, she/he repeats certain behaviors. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Yoga training on psychological well-being, emotion regulation and sleep quality of prisoners suffering from industrial drug abuse. Methods: The current study is a qusai-experimental type that used a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the present study included all individuals prisoned in Iran, Uremia city prisons in 2022, who abused industrial drugs, 30 of whom were screened in a targeted manner and based on the import and export criteria, and were randomly replaced in 2 groups (experimental group=15, control group=15). One group was named as yoga therapy group and one group was named as control group. Training package was used for yoga training, and emotional regulation by Garnefski, Kraaij & Spinhoven (2002a), psychological well-being by Ryff & keyes (1995) and Pittsburgh sleep quality by Buyss (1989) questionnaires were used to collect information. Data were analyzed using multivariate covariance test and SPSS-22 software was used to analyze data. Results: For 30 prisoners with drug abuse, the research data were analyzed in experimental and control groups with a mean age of (39.23±6.04) and (42.4±7.59), respectively. The results of the research showed that yoga training has a positive effect on the psychological well-being, emotional regulation and sleep quality of prisoners suffering from industrial drug abuse (P<0.05). Conclusion: Yoga training could increase mental well-being, emotion regulation and sleep quality of prisoners suffering from industrial drug abuse. |
