عنوان انگلیسی Determine of D-dimer Level in Patients Survived and Leading to Death COVID-19: A Case Control Study
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله
Background: The disease of COVID-19 has spread all over the world since December 2019 until today. Studies have shown that changes in blood coagulation as well as an increase in D-dimer levels occur in patients with the corona virus, which increases hospitalization and patient mortality. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the level of D-dimer in patients who survived and died of COVID-19.
Methods: This study is a case-control type, which started from the outcome, and then the participants were divided into two groups, case and control, according to the investigated factor. This research was conducted in 5 Azar and Sayad Shirazi Hospital in Gorgan from March  20th,  2020 to June 20th, 2021. 158 patients who were eligible for the study were retrospectively screened. Out of this number of hospitalized patients, 107 patients were in the group of survivors and 51 patients were in the group of dead. Clinical and laboratory parameters and results of confirmed cases of COVID-19 were analyzed retrospectively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and SPSS software.
Results: The mean ± standard deviation of the D-dimer level of the patients in the survival and death groups was 1.48 (±2.09) and 2.62 (±2.55), respectively. It was confirmed that this difference is statistically significant (P=0.007). The odds ratio interpretation showed that chance of death due to COVID-19 in patients with high D-dimer is 1.29 times that of patients with lower D-dimer.
Conclusion: D-dimer value at admission can be one of the biomarkers to predict mortality in patients with COVID-19.
