The intensification of climate change in the world causes serious effects on the environment of cities and the occurrence of irreparable risks. Although climate change affects all human societies, there is no doubt that urban societies, especially in developing countries, are the most vulnerable to climate change. In recent years, the adaptation solutions of societies have received much attention and emphasis from international organizations and scientific societies. Many advanced countries, including Japan, have already started taking measures to adapt their urban communities to climate change in line with the world's climate protocols, which can be a solution for other countries, including Iran, to adapt to climate change. For this reason, the purpose of this research is to study the actions and solutions of Japan in order to adapt to climate changes in urban societies. This research is of a descriptive type and the method of data collection was library and data collection. The findings of the research have been in two parts. The first part is: reduction of greenhouse gas production and adaptation to climate change. The results in this section show that in response to various climate impacts already felt in Japan, the Climate Change Adaptation Act was passed in December 2018.
