چکیده انگلیسی مقاله |
Introduction: Cancer is the second cause of death in Iranian children, which affects their quality of life. Measuring the quality of life in children with cancer is very important. The Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory™ 4.0 (PedsQL™) Cancer Module is a well-established tool for measuring quality of life-related outcomes in children aged 2 to 18 years with cancer. Objectives: The present study aimed to determining the psychometric properties of the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory™ 4.0 (PedsQL™) Cancer Module in Iranian children with cancer. Methods: This is a methodological study in which PedsQL™ 4.0 Cancer Module was translated into Persian and then psychometrically evaluated. The participants included 200 children with cancer and 200 of their parents (a total of 400 people) who were selected by convenience sampling. Validity was done by face validity, content validity and construct validity. Construct validity was done by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Internal consistency reliability was conducted by calculating Cronbach's alpha and stability was done by calculating the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results: The Mean ±SD age of children and parents in this study was 5.9±4.2 and 37.83±5.86, respectively. CFA showed that the data had a good fitness. The values of X2/df, RMSR, RMSEA, CFI, GFI and AGFI in the version of Parent-proxy reports were 3.25, 0.057, 0.066, 0.95, 0.91 and 0.88 and in the version of Child-report were 2.66, 0.051, 0.067, 0.93, 0.92 and 0.89. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for child self-report in the sub-scales of pain and hurt, nausea, procedural anxiety, treatment anxiety, worry, cognitive problems, perceived physical appearance, and communication, and the total were 0.72, 0.88, 0.83, 0.81, 0.73, 0.75, 0.73, 0.80 and in parent-report were 0.81, 0.88, 0.93, 0.92, 0.91, 0.88, 0.85, 0.87, 0.82 and 0.81, respectively. In the test-retest reliability, the ICC value in the child self-report version in the age groups of 5-7, 8-12, and 13-18 years old was 0.85, 0.78, and 1.00, respectively. The ICC value in the parent proxy-report version in the age groups of 2-4, 7-5, 8-12 and 13-18 years old was 0.97, 0.87, 0.87 and 1.00, respectively. Conclusions: The Persian version of the PedsQL™ 4.0 Cancer Module had good psychometric properties among Iranian children with cancer. Therefore, it can be used as a valid and reliable tool to measure the quality of life in children with cancer in Iran. |
